Simon Henner, alias French 79, emerged from Marseille as one of the most distinctive voices in European electronic music, dubbed an heir to the French Touch by Jean-Michel Jarre. Across three albums —Olympic, Joshua and TEENAGERS— he built an immersive, synesthetic language in which arpeggios and harmonic sequences turn sound into emotional landscape, reaching well beyond techno. He composed the score for Reda Kateb's film Sur un fil and staged monumental events such as the video mapping of Place Stanislas in Nancy. For his fourth album, due late 2026, he abandoned software and comfort: he built a modular synthesizer housed in a suitcase and recorded it in extreme settings —a sailboat adrift in the Mediterranean at night, isolated huts among the 4,000-metre peaks of Chamonix— turning adrenaline and physical fear into musical matter. A double homage to the pioneers of extreme exploration and to the sheer immensity of nature.
